The role of Governors in school is to act with integrity, objectivity and honesty with the best interests of the school. They should be able to be open about, and prepared to explain their decisions and actions. They take a largely strategic role in the running of the school, helping to set out aims and objectives, policies and targets for achieving the objectives. The governing body should act as a “critical friend” to the head teacher, providing advice and support.(Department for Education, 2012)
